Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

A sophisticated New York labor and employment practice is seeking a mid-level associate to handle a mix of employment litigation and day-to-day counseling for employers. The work spans discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage-and-hour, restrictive covenant, and other workplace disputes, with associates receiving meaningful responsibility for matters rather than operating solely behind senior attorneys. You will work directly with clients, take depositions, draft and argue motions, and advise employers on real workplace issues before they become litigation. Compensation ranges from $190,000-$275,000, depending on experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Defend employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour, and other employment disputes
  • Handle matters before New York state and federal courts and relevant administrative agencies
  • Take and defend depositions, manage discovery, draft dispositive motions, and participate in hearings and settlement proceedings
  • Counsel employers on terminations, accommodations, leave issues, workplace investigations, policies, and other employment matters
  • Draft and advise on employment agreements, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, and workplace policies
  • Communicate directly with clients and take increasing ownership of litigation and counseling matters
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar
  • 3-6 years of labor and employment experience at a law firm
  • Experience with employment litigation in state or federal court
  • Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and case-management skills
  • Deposition, motion practice, administrative agency, or employment counseling experience preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple matters while communicating confidently with clients and senior attorneys
WHAT WE OFFER

A strong platform for employment attorneys who want to develop both sides of the practice: sophisticated litigation and trusted day-to-day client counseling. The role offers $190,000-$275,000 in annual compensation, hybrid flexibility, substantive responsibility, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to build the courtroom, advisory, and judgment skills needed to become a well-rounded employment lawyer.
