Candidates must live at least 100 miles away from this facility in order to be considered a traveler when applying for this role.

  • Based on 48 contracted hours in 4 x 12-hour shifts

Requirements
  • Experience: 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months. Must have at least 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience. 3 months of experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
  • References: Candidates must provide 2 manager/supervisor references from within the past 12 months in order to be considered for this role
  • License: Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license
  • Certifications: BLS (Required) ACLS (Required) NIHSS (Required)
  • COVID vaccination required. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
  • Proof of Identification: Proof of identification required

Stroke, ICP monitoring, EVD Drains, spinal precautions

Unit/Facility Details

Bed: 411

Patient Ratios: ICU - 1:2, based on acuity (may get 3rd patient as one is being downgraded)

Special Requests: Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.

Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date

Travel Pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs.

Shift & Scheduling
  • Weekend rotation: Every other (Dayshift: Sat/Sun; Nightshift: Fri/Sat)
  • Will they be on call? No
  • Holiday Expectations: varies, based on unit needs
  • Parking: Free in designated areas

Floating Requirements: Will float routinely through ICU, CVICU, Cardiac PCU and General PCU units

This is a float pool position that routinely floats between ICU and PCU level of care – this does include floating into the ED to take ED holds (patients with admission orders) AND/OR ED Observation patients (holding orders but not fully admitted); will include patients within your scope of practice and below
