Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nurses’ station with clerical duties, receptionist tasks, and coordination of physician orders. The role requires accuracy in charting, records maintenance, and handling communications.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. BLS certification must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire and maintained; current BLS from AHA or Red Cross Healthcare Providers is required thereafter.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 2 weeks of hire.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle receptionist duties at the nurses’ station.

Job Description

Under general supervision, the Unit Secretary is accountable for performance of clerical work related to the nurses’ station. This position serves in the receptionist role at the nursing station; handles incoming and outgoing communications; processes physician’s orders; and maintains charts, records, supplies and, equipment. The Unit Secretary accurately performs computer related tasks.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Work Experience: None. Certification: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
