Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas seeks a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to provide dedicated care for laboring patients and newborns. The role requires an active RN license in Texas or a valid compact license, BLS/ACLS, and NRP with ongoing EFM monitoring expertise.

The RN will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, guide patient education, and participate in delivering evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Two years Labor & Delivery experience or completion of Parkland RN Residency/Fellowship.
Current Texas RN license or valid compact license.
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers.
ALS/ACLS certification on hire or placement.
NRP certification on hire with up to 90 days to attain if required.
AWHONN intermediate/advanced electronic fetal monitoring or NCC certification required on hire.
Recertification renewals: every two to three years.

Responsibilities

Serve as a patient advocate, maintaining patient rights, confidentiality, and cultural preferences.
Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and hospital policies.
Perform patient assessments and recognize changes in condition; notify providers and implement orders promptly.
Assist during labor, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and immediate postpartum period; support breastfeeding.
Ensure accurate documentation and handoffs; provide patient care education to patients and families.
Float to related areas as needed and serve as a preceptor or trainer to staff.
