This position has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process. The incumbent accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge and skills, and uses independent nursing judgment to achieve quality patient care outcomes. Performs duties within the scope of a Registered Nurse (RN) - Level I & II, as defined within the job description.
The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide relevant care to patients across the lifespan, assess and interpret patient data, and address age-specific needs. This role provides professional nursing care in an inpatient hospital setting.
Responsibilities include prioritizing patient diagnoses, serving as a resource, coordinating with the healthcare team, providing safe care, mentoring colleagues, participating in system improvements, leading teams, designing innovations, supporting research, advocating for patient rights, demonstrating leadership, engaging in holistic and culturally sensitive assessments, and pursuing ongoing education.
The CAPE program supports professional development through a clinical ladder system, with specific requirements and competencies for each level from 1 to 6, including experience, certifications, and participation in quality initiatives.
