Job summary

Mahaska Health is seeking a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, coordinating education and interdisciplinary activities within the department.

Responsibilities include recognizing labor emergencies, providing skilled nursing care, documenting status, and preparing and administering medications and IV therapy as part of a team in a fast-paced obstetric setting.

Qualifications

• RN licensed in Iowa or eligible to work in Iowa.
• NRP certification within one year of hire.
• Birthing Center orientation covering vaginal labor/delivery, cesarean, postpartum and newborn care; varies by learner.
• Current BLS certification per American Heart Association standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, postpartum and newborn care.
• Assess and document physical, psychological, spiritual, and social status on admission and during stay.
• Deliver patient education and coordinate interdisciplinary care to ensure optimal outcomes.
