Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• 1-2 years professional OB/GYN experience.
• Knowledge of labor and delivery, postpartum care, and neonatal care.
• Must complete EMTALA education and MSE education annually.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with physicians and other professional staff.
• Currently licensed as an RN by the Indiana State Board of Nursing; CPR; ACLS (within one year); NRP (within one year); FHM (within one year).

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and care for obstetrical patients and neonates.
• Monitor labor, recognize fetal distress, and alert physicians as needed.
• Assist physicians in resuscitation of the newborn.
• Ensure proper newborn testing and discharge planning.
• Educate mother and family on newborn care and postpartum needs.
• Document accurately and maintain patient records.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure coordinated patient care.
