Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a StaffFlex Registered Nurse for night shifts in Celebration, FL. This PRN/contract role offers flexible assignments across facilities, with competitive pay and potential to transition to permanent staff.

The position requires RN licensure, 2+ years in labor and delivery, BLS, and strong patient education skills. Expect duties across admissions, meds administration, and critical care support in a faith-based, mission-driven system.

Qualifications

• Requires nursing degree and RN license.
• 2+ years of labor and delivery nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• English fluency in reading, speaking and writing.
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate Windows programs.
• BLS certification required, TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide education to patients and families from admission to discharge.
• Document education and patient responses.
• Initiate referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Deliver competent nursing care and administer medications as ordered.
• Respond to unit and hospital code situations.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manage admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Verify and sign off physician orders and obtain lab specimens.

Details:

• Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission to discharge, covering medical and nursing care plans, medications, tests, procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions.
• Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes.
• Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as needed.
• Delivers competent, compassionate care to patients in pain according to policy and maintains a safe care environment.
• Administers medications accurately as ordered.
• Responds to unit and hospital code situations.
• Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients requiring oxygen support.
• Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharges professionally.
• Verifies and signs off physician orders and obtains lab specimens as ordered.
• Evaluates the nursing care plan to ensure safe, competent care delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
