Job summary

The International Code Council is seeking an entry-level Laboratory Assistant to support test setups, material handling, and documentation in a controlled lab environment. The role emphasizes learning procedures under supervision and advancing laboratory skills toward the next level.

You will assist with basic tests, ensure accurate data entry, and help maintain safety and quality standards while gaining hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in building construction or related industry preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building construction, building materials, and construction tools and equipment preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, drawings, and safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Basic labor to set up and tear down test setups and fixtures.
• Materials handling and basic maintenance around the lab.
• Assist technicians at a higher level while learning to advance laboratory skills.
• Document test set‑ups and test procedures accurately.
• Run defined tests with supervision and learn responsibilities of more complex tests.
• Follow ICC‑ES safety protocols and quality procedures.
