Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations, maintain equipment and records, and participate in quality assurance activities with independent judgment.

Responsibilities include setting up tests, preparing specimens, reporting results, following QC procedures, maintenance, troubleshooting, infection control, inventory, and ADA-related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science or related field is required.
• Licensed by New York State Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is required.
• Minimum of one year of work experience or training in the stated area is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform routine and complex lab tests; prepare specimens and report results.
• Follow established in-process quality control procedures and record data.
• Perform routine or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic instrumentation, reagents, stains and testing methodologies.
• Maintain supplies at the work station and ensure quality control/assurance.
• Apply Infection Control practices and procedures.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Include ADA Essential Functions.

Job Responsibility

• * Sets-up and performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures relevant to the particular lab area and personal qualifications. Prepares and tests specimens for examination and reports results.
• * Follows established in-process quality control procedures including recording data.
• * Performs routine and/or preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• * Troubleshoots basic instrumentation, culture media, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, technical problems and methodologies.
• * Maintains sufficient supplies at work station. Ensures and maintains quality control and assurance activities.
• * Uses Infection Control practices and procedures.
• * Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science or related field, required. Licensed by New York State Education Department as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or as appropriate to area of assignment), required.Minimum of one (1) year work experience and/or training specific to the work being done in the area noted above, required.
