Job summary

BioFire Diagnostics is seeking a Lab Technologist in Utah to perform a variety of lab tasks and production processes, including operating HPLCs, DNA synthesizers, LC/MS, liquid handling robots, and UV/Vis spectrometry. The role requires following SOPs and quality systems to ensure accurate results.

The position emphasizes routine tasks with guidance, record-keeping per regulatory standards, and ability to recognize deviations from established procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED. 1+ year lab experience.
• Preferred BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology.
• Ability to follow established SOPs and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform work in compliance with BioMerieux Quality System and SOPs.
• Maintain records per GMP and SOPs; ensure traceability.
• Follow written guidelines and pre-established batch records.
• Manufacture oligonucleotides according to batch records and WIDs.
• Operate and maintain lab instruments: UV/Vis, HPLC, liquid handlers, DNA synthesizers.
• Handle hazardous chemicals per procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

C Shift: (3/4 X 12) Sun-Tues and every other Wed from 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Lab Technologist is responsible for performing a wide variety of laboratory tasks and production processes. This includes operating and troubleshooting HPLCs, DNA Synthesizers, LC/MS, liquid handling robots, and UV/Vis Spectrometry. Works on assignments that are routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

Primary Duties

1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioMerieux's Diagnostics’ Quality System.

2. Maintains records in compliance with regulatory requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.

3. Relies on instructions and pre-established written guidelines to perform job functions.

4. Manufactures oligonucleotides according to electronic batch records and WID’s.

5. Proficient in the use and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation including UV/Vis spectrophotometer, HPLC, liquid handling robots, and DNA synthesizers.

6. Handles hazardous chemicals in accordance with approved written procedures.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Training, and Experience

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

• 1+ year of laboratory experience

• Preferred Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Chemistry, BioChemistry, and Biology.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements (Summary)

• Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.

• Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.

• Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds.

• Able to safely lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.

• Standing and/or sitting 2+ hours at a time.

• Able to perform duties while wearing a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).

The estimated wage range for this role based in Utah is between $20.00 – 28.00. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
