Job Summary

The Manufacturing Lab Technologist takes the lead role in VMRD product manufacturing.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Follows all policies, protocols, regulatory guidelines, and SOPs; Develops and updates SOPs as needed
  • Manufactures ELISA kits (plate coating, optimization)
  • Cultures cells, viruses, bacteria, microorganisms
  • Purifies proteins via salt precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, size restriction, affinity matrix
  • Evaluates proteins via BCA quantitation, spectrophotometric analysis; Conjugates proteins
  • Makes buffers (sterile filtration, dilutions, pools)
  • Runs and interprets assays: IFA, AGID, ELISA, RID
  • Performs in-process quality control and monitoring
  • Packages and labels product
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed
  • Calibrates, operates and maintains equipment
  • Analyzes and interprets data
  • Troubleshoots and identifies areas for process improvement
  • Mentors Manufacturing Assistants, Manufacturing Techs, and other Manufacturing Technologists
  • Works with R&D to transfer new technology
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements For The Job

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs; Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time
  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay Range Data

  • We anticipate filling this position of Lab Associate at an hourly rate between $22.00 and $28.00 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. The range listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses.
