Job summary

Antech Diagnostics is seeking a Hematology Lab Aide to perform assays supporting veterinary GLP studies. You will follow SOPs, enter data, calibrate equipment, and help maintain inventory in a fast-paced lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform assays in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, RIA, EIA, and electrophoresis.
• Enter study protocols and QC data into Antech computer systems.
• Maintain equipment calibration and inventory of lab supplies.
• Follow SOPs to ensure GLP-compliant results.

Job Purpose/Overview

Perform assays in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, RIA, EIA and Electrophoresis to support veterinary GLP studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform assays in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, RIA, EIA and Electrophoresis to support veterinary GLP studies. Review and follow required SOPs to direct the conduct of procedures and processes to assure completion of studies under the applicable regulations. Enter study protocols into the Antech computer system. Processes data and transcribes data in Antech’s laboratory computer system and sends or prints reports in various formats. Maintain and calibrate equipment. Enter data and QC results into the computer system. Interpret QC data to determine the acceptability of the data. Perform testing to qualify new tests as acceptable for veterinary use.Maintain inventory of supplies.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent with 6 months of experience as a Hematology Lab Aide and/or 2-, 3- or 4- year degree in science-related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and operating lab instruments preferred Attention to detail Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to learn new assignments efficiently and support the work of other teams during low demand periods Communication skills, both verbal and written Positive, can-do attitude Basic math, interpretive and analytical skills. Strong data entry skills required Personal computer skills, proficient use of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.

Working Conditions

Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently. Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch Required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs. The ability to observe details at close range Extended hours may be needed Laboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
