Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Position Specific Performance Expectations:
o Coordinate with Laboratory Manager in compliance and regulatory initiatives.
o Positive and supportive team member to hospital and TMHMC staff.
o Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation.
o Attend monthly staff meetings.
o Acts as an internal consultant and educator to clinic & hospital staff in areas of expertise as needed.
o Demonstrates a professional and caring attitude to patients and coworkers.
o Strives to ensure continual compliance with Departmental and Hospital Policies and Procedures and
State/Federal Regulations.
o Employee participates in mandatory in-services.
o Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, HIPPA, safety and risk management.
o Maintain par level supplies and restock as needed.
o Write/amend/review updates policies and procedures to reflect practice and regulatory requirements.
o Adheres to all safety protocols.
o Proficient LIS operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
o Troubleshooting of results and correlate with diagnosis.
o Coordinates and participates on proficiency testing.
o Critical values: identify, repeat, report to proper person and document.
o Proficient operation of all analyzers and laboratory equipment.
o Perform routine UA procedures and backup tests.
o Proficiently and accurately perform micro procedures.
o Perform routine/special hematology procedures.
o Perform routine/special blood bank procedures.
o Perform routine/special chemistry procedure.
o Perform routine/special serology and coagulation procedures.
o Proficient LIS operation.
o Troubleshooting of results and correlate with diagnosis.
o Maintain professional physician interaction.
o Critical values: identify, repeat, report to proper person and document.
o Performs other duties as assigned.

all patients, staff and vendors.
o Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and
time.
o Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality
initiatives.


Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
o Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions)
o Must be able to legally work in the United States
o Must be able to pass a background check
o Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable)
o Must complete employee health meeting
Education/Licensure/Certification:
o Must have an Associate’s degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an
accredited institution or equivalent. Refer to CLIA guidelines for testing personnel for explanation of
equivalency. Standard; Testing Personnel Qualifications §493.1489(b)(2)
o Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days of start of employment)
Experience:
o Professional certification strongly preferred.
o Generalist experience preferred.
o Working knowledge of medical terminology.
o Effective communication both written and verbal.
o Excellent customer service skills
o General knowledge of all Microsoft Office products

Position Classification: Non Exempt

Compensation Range: $ 28.11 to $42.17
