Canventa Life Sciences, Inc. is seeking a Lab Technician, iPSC to join our team in Emeryville. You will culture human iPSCs, differentiate them into cell types, and grow your skills in qPCR and flow cytometry while supporting quality control and safety compliance.

Role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and precise record-keeping in a regulated manufacturing or research environment. The schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, with emphasis on aseptic technique and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field; up to 2 years lab/cell-culture experience, or an Associate’s degree with 2+ years of lab experience.
• Experience with mammalian or stem-cell culture, aseptic techniques, cell counting, passaging, and cryopreservation; production experience preferred.
• Ability to follow SOPs, document activities, and operate in regulated manufacturing or quality environments.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data/documentation per SOPs; excellent communication in a team.
• Ability to work with others, seek guidance when needed, and maintain safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine iPSC culture tasks including passaging, seeding, counting, cryopreservation, sampling, and media preparation using aseptic techniques and SOPs.
• Execute assays such as PCR/qPCR, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, and microscopy; monitor cell behavior and outcomes.
• Complete batch records, logs, and assay documentation; report deviations promptly.
• Maintain lab cleanliness, equipment, and supply inventory; ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with team to support daily operations and training; follow procedures beyond guidelines when needed.

Job description

At Canventa Life Sciences, we provide scientists with the essential cells they need to advance life-saving discoveries. We are looking for a Lab Technician, iPSC to join our team and help accelerate the pace of groundbreaking research.

As a Lab Technician, you will play a hands-on role in creating and maintaining human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and guiding them into differentiated cell types. In this role, you will expand your technical toolkit with experience in iPSC manufacturing, qPCR, and flow cytometry, all while supporting our lab's operational excellence, safety compliance, and quality control.

Please note that this role follows a Wednesday–Sunday schedule to perform routine cell culture maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine iPSC culture tasks including passaging, seeding, counting, cryopreservation, sampling, and media/reagent preparation using aseptic techniques and following SOPs under supervision
• Execute assays including PCR/qPCR, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining, and microscopy, while monitoring and recognizing expected versus unexpected cell behavior and outcomes
• Complete batch records, logs, and assay documentation accurately and on time, ensuring data integrity and promptly reporting deviations or unexpected results
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment, and supply inventory while adhering strictly to safety regulations, aseptic processing guidelines, and compliance standards
• Work effectively with the team to support daily operations, communicate observations clearly, participate in training, and seek guidance when procedures fall outside standard guidelines

Knowledge and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with up to 2 years of lab/cell-culture experience, or an Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience
• Practical experience or familiarity with mammalian or stem-cell culture, including aseptic techniques, cell counting, passaging, and cryopreservation; cell culture production experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to master basic laboratory techniques, execute detailed procedures, and operate within regulated manufacturing, laboratory, or quality environments
• Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of accurately documenting laboratory activities, batch records, and experimental data in accordance with SOPs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and seek guidance when needed
