Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Lab Technician II in Pathology to join the Robert J. Tomsich Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute. The role supports a high-volume laboratory that processes blood tests, biopsies and DNA analyses in a leading-edge environment.

You will work with a dedicated team in a full-time, day/evening rotation schedule and contribute to accurate specimen processing and analytical workflows, ensuring quality patient care across the system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of lab experience required.
  • Associate's Degree in Science may substitute for required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
  • Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
  • Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.
  • Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.
  • Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.
  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).

Job Details

The Robert J. Tomsich Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute (RT-PLMI) touches virtually every patient at Cleveland Clinic and thousands of patients across the world. From simple blood tests to sophisticated DNA analysis and expert biopsy interpretation, RT-PLMI serves a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring disease. With approximately 1,400 dedicated caregivers processing more than 20 million tests annually, the RT-PLMI laboratories are often cited as the largest volume hospital laboratory in the United States. RT-PLMI also provides pathology and laboratory services to external clients through our reference laboratory, Cleveland Clinic Laboratories.

A caregiver in this position works M-F, day/evening rotation, 10:00am-6:30pm or 12:00pm-8:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High S chool D iploma or GED
  • One year of lab experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Associate's D egree in S cience ( will substitute the required experience)
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform specimen handling techniques and take measurements.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to move throughout the department and hospital system.
  • Handles and transports biohazardous materials and potential carcinogens.
  • Ability to differentiate color, hue, saturation, and tones.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
