Cleveland Clinic's Cytopathology Laboratory evaluates a large volume of gynecologic (65,000) and non-gynecologic (20,000) specimens in a wide range of disease categories. As a Lab Technician II, you will create the cytology slides and cell blocks that all cytology diagnoses are rendered from.

**A caregiver in this position works day/evening rotation, from 4:00pm-6:00pm.**

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Receive and access laboratory specimens into the LIS.

+ Retrieve, sort, track, and deliver specimens.

+ Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.

+ Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.

+ Maintain patient, specimen, and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking software/devices.

+ Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.

+ Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance).

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ High school diploma or GED

+ One year of lab experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Associate's Degree in science. This will substitute the required experience

**Physical Requirements:**
