Job summary

The Fortune 100 Oil and Gas Company in Richmond, CA is seeking a Lab Technician II to perform routine analytical tests on crude oil and its products under the supervision of a scientist. You will set up, operate, maintain, and clean analytical laboratory equipment and prepare dilutions as needed.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in chemistry or a related field with 2–4 years in a commercial analytical lab, strong Excel skills, and solid verbal/written communication.

Qualifications

• Set up, adjust, maintain, operate and clean analytical laboratory equipment.
• Analyze results to ensure conformity to quality specifications.
• Prepare dilutions and handle solvents safely.
• Able to document data and issue reports with charts and narratives.
• Capable of meeting deadlines and working under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, maintain, operate and clean analytical laboratory equipment.
• Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to quality specifications, using wet preparation procedures and advanced analytical equipment such as NMR and GC-MS.
• Analyze, gather and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs and narratives.
• Handle solvents and prepare dilutions.
• Timely completion of routine analyses and tasks requested by scientist
