Position Overview
McKinney Specialty Labs is hiring for the position of Smoke Lab Technician I. Technicians perform measurements and other tasks in our Combustible labs to meet the expectations of our clients by efficiently and profitably generating defensible data on time. These tasks will be performed under the direction of a Group Leader.
Primary Workstation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and load smoke machines
- Perform calibration and leak tests and necessary troubleshooting
- Weigh samples
- Prepare reagents and standards
- Enter data into Excel and bench books
- Notify Group Leader of inventory needs
- Dispose of waste
- Keep workstation clean & organized
General Responsibilities Of All Technicians
- Document sample preparation completely enough to reconstruct the process, detect an error, or demonstrate substantial compliance to specific procedures.
- Document sample preparation legibly, with compliant entries into bench books according to specifications detailed in the associated SOPs.
- Assemble data packages and perform peer review of work.
- Inform Group Leader of repeat requests or any situation that is out of compliance.
- Observe acceptable safety habits and keep a clean work area.
- Obtain from Group Leader or Department Manager and peers a complete understanding of compliance criteria for the tests and procedures they are performing at specific workstations.

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Associate’s degree or higher in science (or equivalent experience)
- Ability to work on your feet most of the day (6+ hours)
