Job summary

Wikoff Color Corporation, Alpharetta, GA, seeks a Laboratory Technician to support product development and quality initiatives in the R&D Laboratory. You will execute experimental work, document results, maintain equipment, and partner with production teams to ensure product performance and process efficiency.

Responsibilities include formulation, re-formulation, writing summaries, recording formulations, and collaborating with other teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Prior laboratory or ink/coating formulation experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with analytical testing equipment and lab safety protocols.
• Strong color matching ability and precise documentation practices.
• Excellent organizational habits and neat work practices.

Responsibilities

• Formulate, develop, and introduce new products as instructed by the R&D Product Development Manager.
• Conduct evaluations and re-formulation of existing products as directed.
• Complete assigned laboratory projects and provide clear written summaries.
• Enter formulations and QC specs following established procedures.
• Record project completion in e-Chempax and update Change Sheets as required.
• Collaborate with production personnel to support process modifications and improvements.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain calibration records.
• Review and sign off on documents to acknowledge responsibilities.
• Perform analytical testing using laboratory instruments to ensure quality and compliance.
• Dispose of outdated wet samples per safety and environmental procedures.
• Other duties assigned by management.

The Laboratory Technician supports product development, reformulation, and quality initiatives within the R&D Laboratory. This role is responsible for executing experimental work, documenting results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and partnering with production teams to ensure consistent product performance and process efficiency. The Technician will contribute to both new product development and continuous improvement of existing formulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Formulate, develop, and introduce new products as instructed by the R&D Product Development Manager.
• Conduct evaluations and perform re-formulation work on existing products according to assigned direction.
• Complete assigned laboratory projects and provide clear written summaries of project work.
• Enter formulations—including instructions and QC specifications—following established procedures.
• Complete Formula Entry/Change Sheets as required and accurately record project completion in e-Chempax.
• Collaborate with production personnel to support process modifications and identify process improvements.
• Perform calibration of laboratory equipment and maintain accurate calibration records.
• Review and sign off on relevant documents to acknowledge understanding of role-related responsibilities.
• Conduct analytical testing using laboratory instruments to ensure product quality and compliance.
• Dispose of wet samples that have exceeded their retention date according to safety and environmental procedures.
• Other duties assigned by management

Education/Experience

• Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Prior laboratory or ink/coating formulation experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with analytical testing equipment and lab safety protocols.
• High attention to detail with accuracy and precision in laboratory work.
• Skilled in technical documentation and project record-keeping.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and perform tasks independently when needed.

Working Conditions:

• Laboratory setting with regular handling of chemicals, samples, and specialized equipment.

Effort/Physical Demands:
