Job summary

SGS North America Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Dayton, NJ to join the Air Volatiles department. You will prepare and dispose samples with precision, support analysts, and uphold SOP compliance to meet daily targets and turnaround times.

Required is an Associate's degree (preferred) in chemistry, advanced English, and basic math and computer skills. The role is full-time, on-site, with a focus on safety and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline is preferred.
  • Advanced English language skills are required.
  • Basic reasoning and mathematical skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispose samples according to SGS' SOPs after training.
  • Maintain sample archival and disposal records per SOPs.
  • Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with investigation and responses to client inquiries and CARs.
  • Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures.
  • Cross training with other departments is expected.

Job Description

Our Dayton, NJ laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join their Air Volatiles department! The Laboratory Technician prepares and disposes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Laboratory Technician works jointly with analysts to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Laboratory Technician understands and applies basic analytical chemistry principles. The Laboratory Technician always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job Functions
  • After appropriate training independently prepares and disposes samples according to SGS' analytical SOPs.
  • Maintain sample archival and disposal per SGS' analytical SOPs.
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Assists with investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CARs.
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Cross training with other departments expected.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
  • Advanced English language skills (Required)
  • Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
  • Basic computer skills (Required)
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $20 - $22 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
