II. Basic Function:
This position contributes to the successful and timely development of new pharmaceutical products by utilizing Softgel Formulation/Process drug delivery systems and technologies. The role involves carrying out preformulation, formulation, and process activities.

III. Responsibilities:

• Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and equipment; keep the laboratory organized and clean.
• Manage inventory of glassware, chemicals, reagents, raw materials/excipients, consumables, media, and materials needed for activities.
• Dispose of hazardous waste following environmental regulations and departmental procedures.
• Receive, label, and store solvents and analytical reagents.
• Prepare reagents, standards, media, etc., needed for analysis.
• Set up, operate, and clean isolators.
• Support preparation of solubility and compatibility samples.
• Operate and maintain mixers, laboratory scale encapsulation machines, coating pans, and other equipment.
• Prepare laboratory fill mixes and gel swatches.
• Conduct drying studies.
• Wash, inspect, and package laboratory batches.
• Perform various tests such as moisture content, water activity, hardness, weight, rheology, burst strength, impact/drop testing, and disintegration.
• Record results accurately in notebooks, batch records, reports, and logbooks.
• Clean glassware used for analysis.
• Ship samples to customers as needed.
• Maintain laboratory records.
• Train new or existing personnel if required.
• Follow departmental guidance and SOPs.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• May work with highly potent compounds or hormones.

IV. Knowledge Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent, preferably with some college coursework in sciences. Prior laboratory experience is preferred. Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Skills: Accurate documentation, knowledge of MS Word and Excel, experience with analytical equipment preferred, ability to operate laboratory equipment.

Physical/Mental: Ability to work under pressure, stand, walk, reach, sit, kneel, crouch, lift up to 40 pounds, and comply with gowning requirements. Good vision, including the ability to differentiate colors and read documents, with or without corrective lenses.
