Job summary

Seaboard Energy is seeking an entry-level laboratory technician to support the biodiesel lab operations at our plant. You will perform routine chemical analyses, prepare standards, and contribute to quality control by documenting data and results.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred) and experience in chemical industries is a plus. Strong MS Office skills and ability to present findings to management are important.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in chemistry or related science preferred.
  • Prior experience in petroleum or chemical industries preferred.
  • Ability to read and write effective reports and business correspondence using Microsoft Office products.
  • Oral presentation skills must be effective at all management levels.

Overview

This position provides operational support to all aspects of the lab at a biodiesel plant, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient operation.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment by observing local, state, and federal regulations regarding health, safety and the environment; follow plant and lab safety practices to ensure good housekeeping and hygiene.
  • Perform routine wet and instrumental chemistry analyses in accordance with established analytical methods and laboratory operating procedures.
  • Prepare standards and perform calculations.
  • Operate the quality control system by entering data and observing control charts.
  • Review standardization, quality control and sample analytical data for accuracy; review, release, and record sample results.
  • Collect and run samples in the plant as directed.
  • Other duties may be assigned at management's discretion.
Requirements

  • Prior experience in petroleum or chemical industries preferred.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a laboratory setting within a biodiesel plant, with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and flammable substances.

Normal Work Schedule

Schedule and working hours will be determined. Occasionally extended hours or changes in schedule may be required as special circumstances arise.
