Role Responsibilities

Responsible for performing testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), with emphasis on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA), and applicable Takeda and BioLife policies, procedures, and quality initiatives.

Accountabilities
  • Perform high and moderate complexity tests authorized by the laboratory director or designee, based on education, training, and technical abilities.
    • Manage samples, perform tests, quality control, review results, report results, and maintain equipment to ensure accurate and timely testing.
    • Follow procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and record keeping.
    • Test proficiency samples alongside donor samples to demonstrate testing consistency.
    • Adhere to quality control policies, document activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or report issues to management.
  • Follow established corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives like 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Technical/Functional Skills
  • Ability to read and follow SOPs and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software.
Leadership
  • Integrity, fairness, honesty, perseverance, patient-centered approach, trust-building, reputation reinforcement, and business development.
Decision-Making and Autonomy
  • Assess impact of testing deviations, contain issues, and implement preventive measures.
Interaction
  • Effective communication across various educational backgrounds and levels within the company.
Complexity
  • Stand for 6-8 hours; lift up to 25 pounds; work involves exposure to blood-borne pathogens, requiring gloves in 90% of tasks.
Essential Education and Skills

Bachelor's degree in a biomedical discipline or Associate degree in laboratory science or medical technology. Certification from ASCP or equivalent preferred. 1-year lab experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly wage: $18.85 - $29.62, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and more.
