Job summary

GALLO in California seeks a Lab Technician to support the product development team with routine laboratory analysis, testing, and prototype development for beverages. The role involves conducting chemical and instrumental testing, reporting results, and maintaining a safe lab environment.

The candidate will operate lab equipment, prepare solutions, and ensure compliance with GMP and safety guidelines, with opportunities to contribute to multiple product projects.

Qualifications

  • Must have an Associate’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science, engineering or related courses OR a high school diploma with 2 years of chemistry, microbiology or related lab experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights as needed.
  • Compliance with GMP policies and safety rules is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine chemical, physical and instrumental testing in the lab.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and prepare lab solutions.
  • Document activities in LIMS and report results timely to teams.
  • Support sampling, special projects, and waste handling per guidelines.

A Taste of What You’ll Do

This position supports the product development team by providing general routine assistance and analysis in the lab. Provides technical and application support to the sales and product development teams by evaluating new products and experimental blends through laboratory analysis, experimentation, and food and beverage prototype development. Conducts routine chemical, physical, and instrumental testing; operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment; manages samples and timely reporting; and documents activities in LIMS as needed. This role also prepares laboratory solutions, handles chemical waste in accordance with guidelines, maintains a clean and safe work environment, supports sampling and special projects, and ensures compliance with applicable quality, environmental, and safety requirements.


What You’ll Need


  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of 20 units of completed college level chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science, engineering or related courses; OR High School Diploma or State issued equivalency certificate, plus 2 years of chemistry, microbiology, food science or related laboratory experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Required to lift and carry cases of product that can weigh up to 50 pounds.

  • Required to conduct work at extreme heights.

  • Required to comply with company GMP Policies.

  • Required to be at least 18 years of age.

  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

  • We offer a broad salary range to allow for long-term growth. Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by multiple factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. In addition to the salary, this position may be eligible for bonuses, incentive plans, or participate in tasting room tip pools, as applicable.
