Lab Technician - Building Products Testing

Job Overview

Intertek is seeking a Lab Technician, Building Products Testing to join our Building & Construction team in Kent, WA. This role offers a great opportunity to develop a versatile career in building products and fenestration.

About the Team

The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services, delivering Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. We serve the architectural, engineering, and construction industries with comprehensive lab and on-site capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct testing of windows and doors according to applicable standards.
  • Manage testing projects using Oasis (proposals, progress tracking, invoicing, documentation, reporting, closure).
  • Review contract requirements and document deviations.
  • Coordinate test schedules and manage test specimens.
  • Set up and perform standard tests on building products.
  • Ensure calibration of testing equipment before use.
  • Analyze results and prepare concise test reports.
  • Communicate test procedures and results with clients.
  • Learn and apply various test standards (e.g., AAMA, ASTM).
  • Assist in testing to gain experience; may perform CAD modeling if designated.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; technical degree or related experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand test procedures and specifications.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance policies related to test specimens.
  • Construction knowledge and experience with power tools; heavy machinery operation preferred.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
  • Good communication skills and computer proficiency (Word, Excel, AutoCAD if applicable).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly wage ranges from $24.00 to $30.00, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), PTO, tuition reimbursement, and more.
