Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a full-time Technician B to join the Yamashita Laboratory at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center. The role supports HIV-1 research, viral evolution, antiviral resistance, and host interactions, reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Ideal candidate has a biology degree and at least six months in a research lab; experience in virology or cell culture is desirable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in biology or related life science.
Minimum six months of laboratory experience.
Prior experience in virology or molecular biology is desirable.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Assist the Principal Investigator and postdoctoral researchers with laboratory research.
Perform virology, molecular biology, and cell-based assays.
Process blood specimens and isolate cells for experimental use.
Record experimental results and maintain accurate laboratory databases.
Prepare and operate laboratory equipment according to established protocols.
Perform other related duties necessary to support the laboratory, research projects, and day-to-day operations.
