Job summary

OSI Electronics is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician 2 to support micro-section analysis and quality testing in our Santa Clara, CA facility. You will perform routine testing of chemical samples, measure copper plating thickness, dielectric layers, and solder joints, and generate reports for customers.

In this role, you will maintain the wastewater system, follow SOPs, and collaborate across departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School degree required; relevant experience may substitute.
• 1+ years micro-section analysis experience.
• Cross section preparation/analysis experience preferred.
• Familiarity with microscope and lab procedures in manufacturing.
• Computer data entry and microscope operation experience.
• PCB-related experience is advantageous.
• Ability to read customer blueprints and specifications.
• Must multi-task and work across departments; overtime may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Test chemical samples (incoming, in-process, spent) for internal/external use.
• Perform micro-sectioning to measure copper plating thickness and solder joints.
• Inspect, replenish, analyze and maintain the wastewater system.
• Prepare laboratory and micro-sectioning reports for customer review.
• Follow SOPs and label containers per TDG for disposal.

Altaflex, a division of OSI Electronics, is seeking for a Lab Techician 2 to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for following methodologies: performing routine analysis, monitoring process lines, wastewater treatment system, and performing microsections.

Responsibilities

• Testing all chemical incoming, in-process, spent process & waste water samples for internal/external use.
• Responsibility of performing micro-sectioning to measure copper plating thickness, dielectric layers, solder joint quality, and other structural features and provide feedback to managers.
• Inspect, replenish, analyze and maintain the wastewater system.
• Prepare laboratory and Micro Sectioning reports to be submitted for customer review
• Follow appropriate methodologies and SOP’s as required.
• Label and characterize containers as per the Transportation of Dangerous Goods for proper disposal of spent solutions and sludge.

Qualifications

• High School degree required; relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
• Experience in cross section preparation and analysis desired.
• 1+ years of micro section analysis experience is needed.
• Familiarity with microscope and laboratory procedures in manufacturing environment desired.
• Computer data entry and microscope operation desired.
• Printed circuit board related experience desired.
• Ability to read and interpret customer blueprint and specification helpful.
• Must be able to multi-task projects.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination, to use technical equipment with accuracy.
• Must be flexible in working in various departments as needed and support overtime needs.

Pay may range $28.00 to $30.00 hourly

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
