Pavement Restorations Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to sample, inspect, and test road-construction materials, including hot mix asphalt and aggregates, to ensure TDOT specifications and contract requirements are met.
You will support asphalt plant QC operations, perform equipment calibrations, document data, and participate in training and succession planning within a safety-conscious laboratory environment.

Manager – Quality Control
The Quality Control Laboratory Technician is responsible for sampling, inspecting, and testing road-construction materials, including hot mix asphalt (HMA) and aggregates.
The purpose of this work is to determine whether the characteristics, properties, composition, and quality of these materials meet or exceed applicable Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) specifications, approved job mix formulas, contract requirements, and customer standards.
The technician supports asphalt plant quality-control operations and mix-design activities in accordance with current TDOT Standard Specifications, Supplemental Specifications, Special Provisions, Standard Operating Procedures, and applicable AASHTO and ASTM test methods.
The technician must possess, obtain, and maintain the TDOT certifications required for assigned responsibilities, including:
Perform testing in accordance with TDOT quality control system
Understanding test methods and procedures.
Analysis of test data and corrective action to prevent non-conforming products.
Documentation and data control.
Care and maintenance of testing equipment.
Purchasing and calibration of testing equipment.
Developing and training for succession.
The technician must understand and be able to apply the current versions of TDOT specifications and the test procedures associated with the TDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Certified Plant Technician and TDOT Asphalt Mix Design Technician programs.

The technician works under general direction. Definite objectives and established procedures are provided, but the technician is expected to plan and organize routine work independently and refer unusual conditions, significant specification issues, and nonconforming-material decisions to appropriate management.
This position is a first-level control point for recognizing and preventing material, testing, documentation, and production errors.
Errors that are caused or left undiscovered may result in rejected material, removal and replacement work, production delays, material waste, equipment damage, payment reductions, loss of customer confidence, or damage to the company’s reputation.
The position requires regular communication with plant personnel, laboratory personnel, paving crews, other departments, supervisors, customers, vendors, and TDOT representatives.
The technician must be able to request and provide technical information, explain test results, discuss corrective actions, and obtain cooperation while maintaining professional and effective working relationships.
The position requires integrity and discretion in safeguarding confidential or proprietary information, including cost information, mix-design data, test results, customer information, wage information, personnel matters, and other information shared with supervisory or management personnel.
