Job summary

SLB is seeking a Lab Technician for a 10-month temporary role in Sugar Land, TX. You will perform wet chemistry tests, prepare and analyze samples, and maintain analytical instruments in a safety-focused lab.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5+ years in a lab OR an Associate’s Degree with 2+ years, OR a Bachelor's Degree.
• Lab environment work experience is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• General chemistry laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Immigration sponsorship not available for this role.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced wet chemistry laboratory testing and analysis.
• Prepare, process, and analyze crude and related samples per procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation.
• Accurately document test results, observations, and data.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and workspace in safety and quality standards.
• Follow lab safety protocols and SOPs.
• Collaborate with team to support research, testing, and QA initiatives.
• Utilize Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for data management and reporting.

What You Will Do:

• Perform routine and advanced wet chemistry laboratory testing and analysis
• Prepare, process, and analyze crude and related sample in accordance with established procedures
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation
• Accurately document test results, observations, and analytical data
• Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to internal stakeholders
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and work areas in compliance with safety and quality standards
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures
• Collaborate with team members to support research, testing, and quality assurance initiatives
• Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for data management, reporting, presentations and communication

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED with a minimum five years of experience working in a lab environment, OR, an Associate’s Degree in a related field of study (e.g. lab technician programs, college coursework in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) with a minimum of two years of experience OR a Bachelor's Degree
• Work experience in a lab environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• General chemistry laboratory experience
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Immigration sponsorship not available for this role.

Physical Demands:

• Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience handling and testing oil samples
• Previous Production Chemistry / Oil and Gas Laboratory Setting experience
• Hands on experience with Gas Chromatography (GC)
• Experience with CHNS Elemental Analysis
• Experience using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
