The Department of Human and Molecular Genetics is seeking a Lab Technician to join Dr. Landry's lab.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

This position provides support in lab research, including molecular biology techniques and cell culture work, to the principal investigator and graduate students. Responsibilities also include maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment. Specific projects involve:

  1. Studying the role of MDA9 scaffold and signaling protein in breast cancer progression, sensitivity to chemotherapies, and antitumor immune response.
  2. Studying epigenetic mechanisms of how cancer cells recover from chemotherapy exposure.
  3. Further developing humanized mouse models.

Project assignments will adapt as laboratory priorities change.

Daily tasks include general lab maintenance such as ordering supplies, stocking shelves, cleaning glassware, autoclaving biohazard waste, and cleaning the lab as needed. Experimental duties involve molecular biology techniques like qPCR, Western blotting, cell culture assays, and colony counting. Data analysis includes data entry into Excel or similar programs, simple data organization, and formatting. Maintaining a detailed and clear lab notebook is essential.
