Job summary

Silgan Containers in Brookfield, WI is seeking a Lab Technician. NEW GRADS WELCOME!

You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of our metal and plastic containers, performing routine and complex testing to evaluate container integrity and product interactions. You will use microscopes, conduct destructive and non-destructive tests, support R&D projects, maintain safety procedures, collect and report data, and help train teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or related field.
• Proficiency with MS Office and strong communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work seated or standing for extended periods.
• Comfort with repetitive motions, chemical and solvent exposure, and occasional high-noise or biohazard environments.
• Ability to travel as needed for training and business activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex testing to evaluate container integrity and product interactions.
• Use microscopes and conduct destructive and non-destructive tests to determine shelf life.
• Support R&D projects, quality confirmations, and complaint investigations related to corrosion, discoloration, flavor issues, and spoilage.
• Apply written safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
• Collect, interpret, and report data accurately and professionally.
• Maintain lab equipment, order supplies, and ensure a safe, clean work environment.
• Assist with training, provide backup support to team members, and participate in facility tours.
