The role requires 1–2 years in a lab setting, experience with immunomagnetic isolation, flow cytometry, and ELISA. Onsite work with standard daytime hours and a contract-to-hire path.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in biological sciences is required.
• 1–2 years of lab or clinical testing experience is expected.
• Experience with immunomagnetic cell separation preferred.
• Experience with flow cytometry and functional cell assays is preferred.
• Strong documentation and GLP knowledge is essential.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Job Description: The Laboratory Technician plays a key role in performing a wide variety of laboratory procedures and analyses on biological specimens. This position focuses on isolating and manufacturing fresh and cryopreserved cell-based products from healthy blood and bone marrow samples while consistently adhering to quality control specifications, internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Federal and State regulations, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Responsibilities

• Perform cell processing and analysis on human blood, bone marrow, and cord blood specimens, including immunomagnetic cell separation and isolation, cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, functional assessments, and cryopreservation, using a variety of laboratory instruments and techniques in accordance with established SOPs, Federal and State regulations, and GLP.
• Accurately complete batch records by receiving, recording, and processing all materials, specimens, and reagents for order requests using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Independently prepare and review laboratory reports, document abnormal values, and initiate preventative corrective actions as required.
• Conduct routine monitoring, inventory, and quality control of laboratory equipment, temperature-controlled units, and overall working conditions.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance and ensure laboratory instruments remain in proper working order.
• Adhere to all quality control procedures and documentation standards to support regulatory compliance and reliable laboratory operations.
• Collaborate effectively with professional, technical, and non-technical staff to support smooth laboratory workflows and high-quality results.

Essential Skills

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in biological science, preferably with an emphasis in immunology and/or hematology.
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience performing testing in a laboratory or other clinical environment.
• Substantial experience using immunomagnetic cell isolation procedures, preferably with fresh and frozen human blood samples.
• Hands‑on experience with immunological assays, including flow cytometry and functional cell assays.
• Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of laboratory or medical equipment, following appropriate laboratory testing procedures and precautions.
• Strong understanding of GLP regulations and their application in daily laboratory activities.
• Excellent documentation skills to accurately complete paperwork related to all aspects of quality control.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build effective working relationships with diverse staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with cord blood specimens and cryopreserved cell-based products.
• Familiarity with ELISA and other immunological assay techniques.
• Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for specimen and reagent tracking.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Demonstrated commitment to following SOPs, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory environment that operates Monday through Friday with a standard start time of 10:00 AM. There is no weekend work required. The work involves routine use of laboratory instruments and temperature‑controlled units, adherence to GLP and SOPs, and consistent monitoring of equipment and working conditions. The environment supports collaboration among professional, technical, and non‑technical staff and emphasizes accurate documentation, quality control, and safe laboratory practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Emeryville, CA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
