Job summary

Roseburg Forest Products in Arkansas is seeking a QA Lab Technician to perform testing and analysis in accordance with product standards and help standardize procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency in the lab. You will test materials for strength, chemical, and dimension properties, collect samples from the plant, run checks on glue and resin, and report results to production teams.

The role requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to follow QA procedures and plant

Qualifications

  • Able to read and understand product specifications and testing procedures.
  • High level of accuracy when performing qualifications and data entry.
  • Basic ability to perform algebraic calculations as part of QA testing.
  • Familiar with computer programs for data collection (Excel, Access, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Test different materials and products for various properties (Strength/Chemical/Dimension/etc.).
  • Communicate with plant areas to collect samples or report results.
  • Run checks on glue/resin samples as necessary.
  • Clean up lab and prep areas and assist with mill cleaning as needed.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and participate in safety meetings.
  • Follow QA procedures and plant rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test different materials and products for various properties (Strength/Chemical/Dimension/etc.)
  • Communicating with various areas of the plant to collect samples or report back results
  • Run checks on glue/resin samples as necessary
  • Clean up lab, sample prep areas, and assist with mill cleaning in other area as necessary
  • Basic understanding of product grade requirements and defects
  • Attend all safety and crew meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • If applicable, must pass annual written exams for QA lab protocols/procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend product specifications and to follow associated testing procedures
  • High level of accuracy when performing qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to understand/use algebraic equations
  • Basic knowledge of various computer programs for data collection (Excel, Access, Word)
  • Must maintain high quality and productivity standards per plant requirements
  • Must understand and adhere to prescribed safety procedures
  • Must have ability to run various power hand tools and table/rip saws in a safe manner
  • Ability to handle a fire hose or fire extinguisher
  • Ability to understand/display verbal and written communication
  • Ability to follow all safety precautions and follow all company rules
  • If necessary, understanding of federal formaldehyde program (TSCA, CPA, CARB)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mill production and/or quality background preferred
