Description:

Join the MercyOne Genesis Family! We are looking to hire a Lab Technician!

As a Lab Technician at MercyOne Genesis, you will:

• Be proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory tests from providers.
• Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum.
• Review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in testing requests; occasionally calling providers' offices to obtain missing orders.
• Process specimens appropriately, including checking specimen requirements, centrifuging, separating, and storing at the correct temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability.
• Prepare specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, including completing necessary paperwork and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported promptly, including calling a STAT courier if needed.
• Perform waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology under supervision of an MLT or MT.
• Maintain accurate records such as temperature logs, quality control data, and daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance logs.

General Requirements:

• Less than 1 year of experience required
• Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist preferred

Education:

• High school diploma plus up to 1 year of additional coursework
