Job summary

Aviagen in Alabama seeks a Laboratory Quality Systems Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory quality system and coordinate activities to meet ISO standards. This role liaises with Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance.

Applicants must not own birds due to disease risk. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, strong organizational and communication skills, and is proficient with Excel and Word.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Bacteriology: Set up cultures and identify bacteria and report results.
• Prepare equipment and supplies: wash and disinfect equipment, wash glassware, autoclave materials.
• Quality Control: Evaluate and communicate problems in test procedures to supervisor.
• Miscellaneous Duties: Learn new procedures and comply with ISO Standards.
• Weekend schedule: Availability on weekends is a must as the Bacteriology Department operates seven days a week.

Job Description Summary:

The goal of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the laboratory quality system. This individual will coordinate the activities required to meet ISO technical requirements; monitor and advise on how the system is performing; as well as distribute reports regarding performance. They will liaise with other internal Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance.

The following duties will vary according to the needs of the department. Normal duties will include:

• Bacteriology
  • Set up cultures.
  • Identify bacteria and report results.

  • Autoclave materials and supplies.
• Quality Control
  • Evaluate and communicate problems in test procedures to the supervisor.

  • Learn new procedures as they become part of the routine tests performed in the lab.
