What You Can Expect

Under direct supervision of manager and/or supervisor, assist medical technologists by performing routine laboratory support duties and approved testing in accordance with the laboratory policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Receive test specimens in the laboratory, input data from the documents accompanying specimen into the LIMS and process specimens according to established guidelines.

How You'll Create Impact
  • Receive specimens into the lab and verify adequacy for testing.
  • Accurately enter data into the LIMS from the documents accompanying specimen.
  • Label all specimens with barcodes after entry into the LIS.
  • Perform all necessary processing steps to prepare specimens for testing, i.e., specimen treatment with a chemical, centrifugation, plating of culture specimens, etc.
  • Assist with maintaining quality assurance logs to document inadequate or missing specimens.
  • Assist with performing and documenting all required instrument maintenance, calibrations as needed.
  • Participate in and document annual continuing education.
  • Perform all technical tasks according to SOPM.
  • Maintain supplies, empty medical waste containers, clean benches in all areas, as needed, during slower afternoon hours.
  • Participate in individual or group projects or on designated committees when requested to do so by the Technical Supervisor or Lab Manager.
  • Performs other duties as required by laboratory director and/or manager.

Expected Compensation Range

$46,000-57,000 annually.
