Job summary

Malteurop in Great Falls, MT is seeking a Lab Technician under the Laboratory Manager to test product quality and ensure malt meets customer standards. You will perform laboratory research, record observations, maintain equipment, and assist with raw materials receipt and stocking.

The role requires a High School Diploma and preferably an Associate degree in Food Science or Chemistry, plus at least two years in a food-lab setting. SAP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree in Food Science or Chemistry is a plus.
  • At least two years’ experience as a laboratory technician in a food environment preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory testing and QA to ensure malt meets customer requirements.
  • Records observations, measurements, and reports results.
  • Maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, ordering and stocking.
  • Assess lab test result validity prior to reporting to manufacturing or customers.
  • Provide technical support to sales by preparing samples and analytical information.

The Lab Technician, under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, performs work involving the testing of the product to ensure it meets customer requirements. The main responsibility includes conducting quality assurance tests to ensure malt meets the customer’s standards and requirements.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitieS:
  • Performs laboratory research/tasks.
  • Records observations, measurements, and reports results.
  • Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of laboratory and associated instrumentation and equipment.
  • Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, ordering and stocking.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Assess lab test result validity prior to reporting to manufacturing or customers.
  • Verify and issue customer reports.
  • Maintain and improve lab operations by assisting in the development of lab employees and coordinating the maintenance and purchase of lab equipment.
  • Compare lab test results with expected outcomes to evaluate test result validity prior to reporting.
  • Works every other weekend or as needed.
  • Provide technical support to the sales function by preparing special samples and analytical information.
