Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Lab Tech 2 to support specimen processing and clerical checks. You may perform phlebotomy and assist Medical Technologists in test preparation and equipment operation.

The role requires basic lab skills, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work in a team with strong communication. Training is provided, and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy skills and ability to collect specimens.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Proficient with computer systems and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes specimens and performs clerical checks.
• Sets up specimen materials and prepares for Medical Technologist to perform tests.
• Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges and timers.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and communicates with staff.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Job Summary

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
• Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
