Job summary

The Lab Tech 2 at Baylor Scott & White Health in Round Rock, TX receives and processes specimens, performs clerical checks and supporting tasks. Phlebotomy may be required to assist the team.

Shift Day 9:30am–6:30pm. Must have at least 2 years of phlebotomy and/or specimen processing experience in a fast-paced clinic or hospital setting. Education: HS Diploma or GED. Benefits include immediate health and welfare coverage, 401(k) match up to 5%, tuition reimbursement and PTO from Day 1.

Responsibilities

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures with limited errors.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens; prepares for Medical Technologist.
• Operates centrifuge, timers, cell washer and other equipment.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication with laboratory personnel and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Job Summary

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
• Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
