Job summary

Afton is seeking a detail-oriented laboratory technician to perform tests, log results, and maintain safety in a fast-paced environment. The role includes lab maintenance tasks, monitoring equipment, and providing first aid as needed, with willingness to work overtime.

Education background typically includes an associate degree or higher, plus experience with standard lab practices and analytical chemistry. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Skills and experience in general laboratory techniques and practices
  • Bachelor’s degree including laboratory courses
  • Analytical chemistry experience

Responsibilities

  • Logging samples in computer, entering testing results, and sending electronic reports when testing is completed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment including safety and housekeeping inspections
  • Lab maintenance - changing out gas cylinders, filling solvent reservoirs, and taking out solvent waste.
  • Monitoring emergency phone, fire panel, and diesel pumps.
  • Provide first aid during off-shifts and emergencies.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed/required.

Education & Experience Minimums
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Skills and experience in general laboratory techniques and practices

Pay Range: $53,000 - $65,000

Pay Range displayed on each job posting reflects the previously determined minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries; within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including job scope, job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training. Please note that the pay range listed in this posting reflects the base salary only and does not include the value of benefits that are provided in addition to the salary for this position.
