Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II for full-time day shifts. The role involves performing a variety of laboratory support procedures, including phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, and general laboratory support within clinical and anatomical pathology.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, quality control, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and assisting in training new staff. Six months of healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training preferred.
• Phlebotomy training program completion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection per procedures.
• Collect patient/test information to maintain accurate records.
• Verify patient ID, insurance, and testing requirements.
• Process, label, centrifuge, and transport specimens as required.
• Provide clerical and customer service support as needed.
• Maintain equipment, workspace, and inventory in the lab.
