Job summary

Montefiore New Rochelle seeks a Lab Helper to support non-clinical laboratory tasks at the Einstein Rapid Response Lab. You will prepare samples, operate basic lab equipment and assist with sample handling under supervision.

The position runs 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm with alternate weekends, requires a High School Diploma or GED and strong organizational and communication skills to ensure smooth workflow and infection-control compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating laboratory centrifuges, computers and standard office equipment.
• Good communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment and QA/QC practices.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve samples and slides; centrifuge and prepare aliquot tubes as needed.
• Operate LIS/Lab information systems for specimen tracking when required.
• Deliver and pick up samples to the correct workstation or department.
• Monitor stock levels and properly store supplies per guidelines.
• Record logs and assist with basic facility issue reporting and infection control.
• Answer phones and provide information or route queries to the appropriate person.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow supervisor instructions.
