Job summary

Badger Foundry Company is seeking a Lab Supervisor to oversee sand testing and chemistry controls for gray and ductile iron. You will supervise Lab Technicians, work with customers and suppliers, and track sand and chemistry properties to ensure compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities include supporting quoting, coordinating with Manufacturing for process improvements, managing lab equipment, and maintaining lab records.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of foundry experience.
  • Experienced gray and ductile iron chemistry.
  • Able to interpret customer supplied specifications to determine foundry capability, process methods.
  • Capable of working with Suppliers and developing specifications for purchased raw materials.
  • Ability read and interpret microstructure (gray and ductile).
  • Experienced in supervision, training and leadership.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve process quality defects.
  • Highly organized. Able to manage multiple projects to satisfy timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to represent Badger Foundry and communicate with customers and suppliers.
  • Maintain Lab records.
  • Support Quality Manager and Quality Management System.

  • Support and assist in ductile and gray iron processes.
  • Provide technical support to plant personnel.
  • Create and manage daily ductile schedule.
  • Issue Material Certifications.

Job description

Lab Supervisor is required to oversee sand test (Greensand and No-bake) which complies with internal specifications. Manage/oversee chemistry controls for Gray and Ductile iron and assist in metallurgical evaluation to comply with customer and internal specifications.

Primary responsibility:

  • Provide leadership and management skills to supervise and train Lab Technicians.
  • Work directly with customers and suppliers on material requirements.
  • Track/report on chemistry and sand properties.
  • Assist with quoting process to identify proper chemistry and or technical requirements.
  • Assist Manufacturing with improvements on existing work.
