Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; equivalent with 8 years experience accepted.
• Florida license as Clinical Laboratory Supervisor within 3 months of hire/transfer.
• Minimum 5 years as Medical Technologist with Supervisor license in Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Immunohematology.
• Supervisory experience with 30 employees.
• ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) national certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the technical operations of the assigned cost center to ensure accurate and timely laboratory services.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the assigned area.
• Ensure compliance with Shands Jacksonville Policies and Procedures.
• Provide supervision and leadership to staff.
• Coordinate laboratory functions with other supervisors.
• Prepare and manage the assigned cost center budget.
• Schedule staff and assign workstations.
• Perform duties as a technologist when necessary.
• Ensure all regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements are fulfilled.

Responsibilities

In this role the Lab Supervisor will perform the following job duties:

• Supervise and coordinate the technical operations of the assigned cost center to ensure that accurate and timely laboratory services are provided to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for assigned area.
• Ensure compliance with Shands Jacksonville Policies and Procedures.
• Provide supervision and leadership to the staff.
• Work closely with other supervisors to coordinate laboratory functions.
• Prepare and manage assigned cost center budget.
• Schedule staff and make workstation assignments.
• Work as a technologist when necessary.
• Ensure all regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements are fulfilled for assigned areas.
• Perform all assigned duties in a caring and professional manner to serve as a model to create an environment where the patient and the customer are of primary importance.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree. Will consider Associate's Degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred: Master's Degree

Licensure/Certifications

Required: Active Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in assigned area within three (3) months of hire or transfer.

Preferred: Florida licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor National certification from ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) in assigned work areas.

Experience

Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist with a Supervisor license in Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunohematology areas.

Preferred: Supervisor experience.

Supervision

Supervisory responsibility of 30 employees.

Budgetary Responsibility for annual budget of $2,500,000.00.

Age of Patients Served: All age groups.
