Texas Health Resources seeks a Lab Supervisor for the Blood Bank in Fort Worth, TX. The role leads a multidisciplinary team, ensuring accurate test procedures and compliance with safety standards.

Required are a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related science and MT/ASCP certification. Leadership and Blood Bank experience are highly preferred, with on-site day shifts and on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Lab Science or a related science.
• Minimum 5 years under MT or Pathologist supervision.
• 2 years leadership experience preferred; 2 years Blood Bank experience preferred.
• Licensure/certification as MT(ASCP), CT(ASCP), Cytotechnologist (ASCP), Histotechnologist (ASCP), MLS(ASCP) or equivalent required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee work schedules and personnel assignments for the Blood Bank department.
• Perform complex laboratory procedures and maintain competency.
• Ensure quality control and documentation per policy.
• Lead orientation and training of students, new staff and observers.
• Ensure safety, infection control, privacy and billing compliance.

Here’s What you Need

• Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science
• 5 years under the direction of an MT or Pathologist required
• 2 years of Leadership experience highly preferred
• 2 years of Blood Bank experience highly preferred
• MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist Upon Hire Required Or CT(ASCP)
• Cytotechnologist Upon Hire Required Or HTL(ASCP)
• Histotechnologist Upon Hire Required Or MLS(ASCP)
• Medical Lab Scientist Upon Hire Required Or SCT(ASCP)
• Specialist in Cytotechnology Upon Hire Required
• Other equivalent of one of the above including AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board Upon Hire Required HT(ASCP) Histotechnician if supervising Histology within Anatomical Pathology Upon Hire Required

What You Will Do

Leadership/Staff Supervision

• Oversees work schedules and personnel assignments for the department
• Delegates employee responsibilities as needed
• Monitors overtime usage

Lab Operations and Test Procedures

• Assumes and performs complex laboratory procedures when needed
• Maintains testing procedure competency

Quality Control/Documentation

• Reviews reagent quality control that is reported by the technologists and instrument maintenance that is performed by the technologists
• Follows laboratory policies when quality control is not within established limits

Professional Accountability

• Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees and observers
• Maintains, documents, and communicates current education requirements and obtains training and education required by system, hospital, and laboratory

Safety and Compliance

• Complies with regulatory requirements for safety, infection control, privacy, ethical behavior guidelines and billing compliance
• Complies with laboratory and section/cost center guidelines, procedures and policies
