Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England is seeking a Lab Supervisor for the Automated Lab to lead strategic and daily operations, ensuring accurate testing and outstanding service. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Science is required, or an equivalent advanced degree.
• Academic credentials alone are not sufficient without board certification; ASCP or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 3 years in Clinical Laboratory Science with prior lead/supervisory responsibilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day technical and operational functions of the laboratory, ensuring workflow and timely processing.
• Monitor workload and adjust staffing or processes for service continuity.
• Plan and monitor QC/QA programs and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate laboratory staff; provide coaching and corrective action as needed.
• Ensure safety, staff competency, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
• Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to maintain LIS functionality and data reporting.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Science

Associate degree with 10 years CLS experience

ASCP certification (or equivalent)

3+ years Clinical Laboratory Science experience

Senior/lead or supervisory experience

Description:

Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a dynamic, team-oriented individual for the Lab Supervisor position in our Automated Lab.

You would lead the strategic and daily operations of assigned department, ensuring accurate, timely testing and exceptional service. This role oversees quality programs, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement. Responsible for staffing, training, and performance management, the supervisor fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration. Acts as a technical expert and liaison across departments, resolves complex issues, and supports LIS enhancements. Maintains operational efficiency, fiscal responsibility, and a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

What will you do:

• Oversee the day-to-day technical and operational functions of the laboratory, ensuring consistent workflow, timely specimen processing, and adherence to established protocols.


• Monitor workload distribution and adjust staffing or processes to maintain service continuity.


• Plan, implement, and monitor comprehensive quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs.


• Recruit, interview, and onboard laboratory staff. Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.


• Address performance issues through coaching and corrective action.


• Ensure staff competency through regular assessments and documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.


• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).


• Foster a collaborative, respectful, and customer-focused work environment that encourages professional growth and high performance.


• Manage laboratory resources effectively, including personnel, instrumentation, and supplies. Monitor inventory levels, forecast future needs, and submit procurement requests with appropriate justification.


• Develop, review, and update laboratory policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reflect current best practices, regulatory changes, and operational needs.


• Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to implement and maintain LIS functionality and staff training to ensure accurate data capture and reporting.


• Act as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments, including nursing, medical staff, and administration.

Work Hours/Shift:

40 hours, Day Shift, flexibility to check-in on off-shifts as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Science. Or, an Associate’s degree is acceptable with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory Science.


• Current ASCP certification (or equivalent) relevant to the assigned department is required.


• Three (3) years of experience in Clinical Laboratory Science. Prior experience in a senior, lead, or supervisory role in large Lab environment is highly preferred.

Pay Range: $36.40 - $58.25 per hour

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
