Job summary

Your Role on the Team

Under minimal supervision, oversees the activities and staff of a laboratory including the supervision of entry / intermediate level research and / or instructional associates and laboratory support staff. Typically works in small to medium or single facility laboratory. Supervises the development and execution of major or multi-disciplinary research projects or instructional and experiment design. The successful candidate should also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or organizational policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.


Required

What It Takes to be Successful


  • Prior experience in a research setting, with a strong understanding of IRB processes and regulatory compliance

  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling to effectively motivate others.

  • Skills to evaluate issues and identify resolutions.

  • Strong service orientation with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • Can perform data analysis

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

  • 5+ years experience in clinical research

  • A minimum of 1 year of experienceExperience with multi-site research coordination.

  • A minimum of 1 year of experienceKnowledge of institutional compliance policies and internal controls.

  • Familiarity with grant management or research funding administration


Preferred


  • Leadership skills associated with planning work assignments, establishing priorities and scheduling instructional space.

  • Advanced degree preferred.


Special Conditions


  • This will be an in-person position.

  • May require travel between various offices and clinics and imaging facilities in Orange and Irvine campuses.
