Job summary

Labcorp in Daphne, AL is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily lab operations and ensure accurate test results. You will supervise staff, manage workflow, and maintain QA/QC records in a high-volume environment.

A bachelor's in a chemical/biological science and 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience are required, with ASCP/AMT certification preferred. The role requires adherence to CLIA/CAP regulations, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaborating with the team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• 5+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the department/lab.
• Ensure tests are performed accurately and results reported timely.
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel.
• Monitor daily workflow and schedule adequate assay coverage.
• Ensure shifts are properly staffed and compliant with regulations.
• Engage in process improvements and maintain QC records.
• Prepare and maintain QA records and documents.
• Coordinate with staff and management for continuous improvement.

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team in Daphne, AL.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:30 am-4:30 pm (some flexibility needed; potential weekend coverage needed in an emergency)

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise the day to day operations of the Department/Lab Name department
• Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
• Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
• Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
• Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
• Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
• Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
• Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
• Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
• Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
• Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
• Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
• Perform administrative duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 5 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
