Job summary

Oakland University is recruiting for a Laboratory Coordinator to oversee departmental instructional laboratories on campus, with a full-time schedule and occasional outdoor duties. The position may require nights or weekends and some work at satellite sites like LORACS and BioPreserve.

Responsibilities include preparing solutions, setting up weekly experiments, ordering stockroom supplies, and keeping equipment and facilities in proper working condition while adhering to safety and biosafety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with some lab experience demonstrating mastery of standard methods.
• Knowledge of scientific equipment used in teaching and routine preparation.
• Ability to establish and maintain up-to-date inventory records.
• Ability to interact effectively with the public, students, faculty and staff.
• Must be comfortable outdoors in varying weather conditions and may be exposed to dirt.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate laboratory activities including preparing solutions, setting up weekly experiments for all laboratory courses.
• Order stockroom supplies and ensure equipment and facilities are in proper working condition.
• Ensure safety protocols, biosafety and hazardous waste compliance within the labs.
• Collaborate with faculty, students and community partners in the instructional labs.
